Under the guidance of the Metropolitan Ignatios, the athletic association "Demetrias" organised a group of volunteers in order to participate in cleaning and tidying our city.

The first cleaning act took part in the sea-line of the place of Panaghia Goritsa in Volos. On Sunday 14 October, during the Holy Liturgy in the church of Panaghia in Goritsa, the Metropolitan talked about this offering movement of the association. Three groups of volunteers started cleaning the sealine, walking to the factory of Hercules, the church of Saint Constantine and Helen, and the mount of Goritsa.

Participation to this movement took: a) the bicycling group Demetrias, b) the football group Demetrias, c) the volunteers of the Municipality of Volos, d) the Special Forces Association of Magnesia, e) the Association of Militery Officers of Magnesia.
