On Thursday afternoon, (21/01/2016) an interesting artistic event was held in the grounds of  the correctional institution of Kassaveteia (prison) with the initiative of His Eminence Metropolitan Mr.Ignatius and the participation of the association for the prisoners support "O Estavromenos". The event included the blessing of the New Year Cake by His Eminence along with an interesting artistic singing program by the children's choir "DIMITRIAS" of the Holy Metropolis of Dimitrias. In the choir, students of the 10^th Elementary School of N.Ionia -among them many Romas- are guided by the instructor, musician and social anthropologist Mr. Evagelos Mpantelas. Five musicians playing several instruments accompanied the choir and excited the attendants. The songs and the rhythm thrilled the young prisoners who vividly participated by singing in the microphone and by dancing Gipsy dances. Our Metropolitan, gave an inspired speech to the student-prisoners overwhelming their hearts with love, gratitude and hope for life. In this event important people were present: fr. Theodoros Mpatakas, in charge of "Estavromenos", fr. Christos Mpountis, in charge of prisoners pastoring in the institution, the Deputy Prosecutor of Supreme Court, Mrs Evmorfia Samara, director of the institution, Mr. Anastassios Goukos, Headmaster of the 10^th Elementary School of N.Ionia, several social workers, teachers, prison officers and a representative group of young prisoners who enthusiastically applauded the efforts of the orchestra. The whole event, offering love and care, sent Christian messages, joy and hope to all imprisoned brothers.
