The late HeadPriest Stylianos Ananiadis reposed in the peace of God (9/4) aged 88 years old, who was an eminent clergyman of our Local Church, a veteran teacher and a prolific writer.

The late Father Stylianos was born in Volos in 1928. He studied Theology at the University of Athens and worked for 30 years as a Teacher of Theology in the Junior High Schools and in the High Schools of Velestino, Zagora, Kanalia and Volos. Afterwards, he served as a lay preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Dimitrias, since 1974.

After his retirement from Education, in 1990, he was ordinated a Deacon and a Presbyter from our Blessed pastor,Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens and All Greece and he was appointed a regular parish priest of the Holy Temple of Saint Georgios in Volos.

He was a Chairman of the Panhellenic Union of Parents in Christian Education (Annex in Volos )

As a hagiographer, he managed the first School of Hagiography of our Local Church, which ran in the « Catacomb» of our Metropolitan Temple.

From 1990 and for many years he was a regular speaker of the «Christian Social Association».

He was appointed and served as a Secretary of the « Society for the Protection of the Under-aged Children » in the Institution of Volos.

He offered his services, as a Sunday School Teacher and as a speaker, to the Sunday Schools of our Holy Metropolis, to the Camps, to Fields of Holy Scripture study, to Evening Preachings, in Velestino, in Saint Georgios of Ferres, in Volos etc.

Until now, he was a regular producer of the Radio Station «The Orthodox Testimony», with broadcasts relevant to the interpretation     of the Psalms and the Hagiographic Reading Texts of Sundays.

Father Stylianos as an Educator and as a Clergyman, was honoured with commensurate distinctions,for his social, educational and missionary contribution, from:

Α. The Directorate of Secondary Education of Magnesia (1992).

Β. The School in Volos ''Saint Joseph '', for his teaching work.

Γ. The Panhellenic Association of Theologians (Annex of Volos ).

Δ. The Ecclesiastical Council of Saint Georgios' Temple in Volos (2004).

Ε. The Holy Metropolis of Dimitrias (2014), for his unique Hieratic, educational and author's work.

Father Stylianos was married to the Teacher - Educator Ioanna Trivella and he had a daughter.

He wrote excellent works in Apostolic and Evangelical Sunday texts of the years 2002-2007 (five works), for «Issues of mental culture and psychotherapy», his wonderful five-volume work with the Interpretation of the Psalms and the voluminous interpretation of the Symbol of Faith, titled «Our Credo».           

The funeral service of the Blessed Father Stylianos Ananiadis was led, with deep emotion, in the Holy Temple of Saint Georgios in Volos, where both His Eminence Metropolitan of Dimitrias Mr Ignatios and Bishop Theolkitos of Vresthena officiated, with the participation of hosts of Clergymen and Lay people . His Eminence Metropolitan of Dimitrias Mr Ignatios spoke on the late Father,and pointed out that Father Stylianos passed away in a «Christian, painless,unshamed, peaceful way »,he stressed his benevolent,peaceful and lenient character, while he pointed out that through his work, he marked a whole generation of heroic Theologians - Educators, who instilled the teachings of the Greek Nation and Orthodoxy to innumerable students. 

On behalf of the holy Clergy, the Senior Archimandrite of the Holy Metropolis Damaskinos Kiametis said goodbye to the late Father Stylianos, while resolutions were read on behalf of the Ecclesiastical Council of the Holy Temple of Saint Georgios in Volos and the Board of Directors of GEHA in Volos.
