On Wednesday 4^th May 2016, one more modest ceremony of 'ESTAVROMENOS' in Kassaveteia prisons took place in order to support our imprisoned brothers. A representative group of the Association's fellow workers visited the prison in order to provide all the prisoners with Easter packages as a sign of love and interest of our Local Church. All the detainees were gathered on the forecourt of the prison annexes and had the opportunity to talk to Theodoros Mpatakas, the Director of 'ESTAVROMENOS', who was in charge of the group of the 13 volunteers-fellow workers of the Association. In his short talk, the Director, informed the detainees of the 20 year old action of the'E', the continuation of the ministry and offered the Easter packages. Also, he conveyed the wishes of His Eminence Mr Ignatius of Demetrias, of the members of the Board of the Directors and of all the associates. The people in charge of the detention area and the prisoners, full of gratitude warmly welcomed the Association representatives . The 172 packages delivered to the detainees contained: underwear, undershirts , socks,  toothpastes, toothbrushes, shirts, shavers, shampoos, soaps, toilet paper, bath sponges, the journal 'Minimata Zois'(issued every four months only for the Greek-speaking detainees) e.t.c. During their visit to the prison annexes along with the 13 volunteers-associates of 'ESTAVROMENOS' and the Social Help Center of the Holy Diocese of Demetrias 'DIAKONIA' were: Mrs Evmorfia Samara, director of the institution and the social workers: Mrs Tzeni with her two children and Mr Leonidas. Before the group of the 'E' associates left the place of Kassaveteia  they had visited the chapel of the prisons (of Saint Eleftherios, Patron Saint of the prisoners), to kneel before the Lord and thank him for all his donations and blessings.

Fr Theodoros,  had the chance to inform his associates of the prisoners' life and needs , the importance of the ministry and the Association's offer, but also the 20 year old beneficial presence of ''ESTAVROMENOS''at the detention areas, where hundreds of our fellow people are crowded deprived of their freedom and their basic materials for their daily life.

The Board of the Directors of the 'ESTAVROMENOS'- through the help and the financial support of all its associates-made the hagiography of the whole church of St Eleftherios which is an ornament to the prison area. Fr Theodoros  made a special mention of the blessed associate of the 'E' ODYSSEAS PALAMARIS, who breathed his last in the small port of the Monastery of St Gregory of Mount Athos during an annual intellectual travelogue to the Garden of the virgin Mary (Perivoli tis Panagias) with the Associate's Director and other friends.

After the prison of Kassaveteia, the representatives of the 'E' made an interesting visit to the penitentiary of the prison, where five detainees are working. The Director of the 'E' talked to the captives and offered them the Easter packages on the part of the Association. There was a warm welcoming and pleasure surged within all.

The chapel of Saint Nikolaos Planas- built years ago in the area of the penitentiary- is an offer by 'ESTAVROMENOS' providing great comfort and support to all the detainees, and the employees of the prison. The group of the volunteers-fellow workers of the Association (representing all the 'E' associates) went back to Volos fully satisfied and pleased after a short stop to rest in Nea Anchialos.

LET'S HELP 'ESTAVROMENOS' IN MANY WAYS IN ORDER TO BE CAPABLE OF CONTINUING ITS MINISTRY SUPPORTING THE PEOPLE IN NEED.
