The Prison Ministry Association of Volos 'ESTAVROMENOS', cares for the detainees kept for a short or a longer period of time at the various detention centers of the Police Stations, the Courthouse, the Central Port Authority of Volos e.t.c. The detainee's stay in these areas is neither pleasant nor decent. Usually, most of them have no relatives near the detention center and therefore they remain on the same clothes they were wearing at the time of their arrest for many days. Others are arrested and remain in custody until the legal procedures are over, or they are transported to our city in order to appear before a court law concerning them and some others are arrested since they lack the necessary papers (immigrants and refugees). Of course, the services of the Greek Police Force provide them with their daily food, but they cannot meet all the 'hosts' needs. Indeed, when it comes to this issue there is a big gap, on behalf of the Society. Thus, our Local Church always fills in that gap through 'ESTAVROMENOS'.

A few days ago, the Association took the initiative to support the dozens of    detainees kept at the detention centers of the Greek Police Force. The Director of the Board of the Directors of the 'E', took immediate action and delivered to the duty officer the following items: soaps, shampoos, shavers, tissues, toothpastes, toothbrushes, shaving foams e.t.c. All these items are an indication of true love of our fellow-citizens, who trust 'ESTAVROMENOS' and respond to its appeals.
