A New Presbyter in the Diocese of Demetrias
Fr Stefanos Kolyndrinis, who is married and a father of two children, and was a Deacon of the Holy Ascension of Christ in Volos till now, was promoted today to the second rank of Clergy and was ordained a Presbyter of our Local Church by His Eminence Ignatius of Demetrias. The Ordination was serviced in the Church where he was a deacon, in the presence of many Clergymen and lots of God's people.
In his speech His Eminence Ignatius referred to the several difficulties that Fr Stylianos had to overcome, in order to satisfy his holy desire, which was fulfilled due to his deep love for God and his trust in His will. His Eminence repeated what he often stresses, that 'the young clergymen enter the clergy under difficult circumstances, since the State cannot meet its commitments. As a result, in the best case, they stick to their profession in order to earn their livelihood and at the same time to offer themselves to the Church and peoples' ministry. Your boldness, went on Mr Ignatius, is an invitation to all the purely selfless people wishing to offer themselves to the work of the Church...' His Eminence pointed out that 'Church attendance among young people today is a miracle, which common sense perhaps cannot comprehend, yet the Church is experiencing it through those people offered to It'. In the end, Mr Ignatius pointed out to the new Presbyter that he enters the holy Clergy of our Local Church 'where we all fight, nobody excepted, in order to offer the best we can to God's work, to offering and solidarity, to sacrifice,by fostering peoples' unity which is so essential, through our Orthodox faith as a unifying power'.
At the end of the Mass there was the memorial service of the late Fr Stylianos Ananiadis, an eminent Clergyman of our Local Church, who set a long and brilliant course in both education and priesthood.
