His Beatitude Ieronymos II, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece in the Diocese of Demetrias.

It is a great honor and blessing for our Local Church to have His Beatitude Ieronymos II, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece in our region, for two days 22-23/5, after accepting the invitation from His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatius of Demetrias. 

His Beatitude will bless and participate in two major events:

A.  On Sunday 22/5, in the Church of Sts Constantine and Helen in Velestino.

 

His Beatitude Ieronymos is to arrive at 7.00 p.m. and will be officially welcomed by His Eminence Metropolitan Mr Ignatius of Demetrias, headsman of the holy clergy and people. Next, there will be Grand Vespers, with His Beautitude officiating, surrounded by His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatius of Demetrias and the Metropolitan of Velestino Damaskinos. During the Vespers, His Beatitude will be addressed by the Metrolpolitan Ignatius of Demetrias, the Mayor of Rigas Feraios Mr Dimitrios Nasikas, while His Beatitude will respond to the address.

 

After the Vespers, cultural events will take place in the Churchyard, titled: "Traditional tastes and music from our place of origin", on the occasion of the completion of 40 years of course and action in Culture and Tradition of the Association of people from Perivoli in Magnesia. These events are held in the framework of the annual actions, titled: "Magnetes and the culture of tastes", organized by the Culture Association "Magniton Kivotos, for the preservation of our cultural heritage".

 

 

B.  On Monday 23/5 in the Conference Center of Thessaly.

The Blessed Archbishop will bless the 1st  pan-Thessalian      Hieratic Synaxis, starting at 10.00 a.m., with the attendance of the Clergy of all the Dioceses of Thessaly, and officiating Metropolitans: of Stagoi and Meteora Serafim, of Larissa Ignatius, of Elassona Charitonas, of Thessaliotis and Fanariofarsala Timotheos, of Trikki and Stagon Chrysostomos, of Demetrias Ignatius.

 

The general topic of the Synaxis will be: "The Orthodox Clergyman: A pastor and a minister in the modern world".

 

His Beatitude Ieronymos will announce the beginning of the proceedings, during which there will be speeches by Rev. Protopresbyter Adamantios Avgoustidis, Vicar General and General Director of the Institute of Pastoral Education and Training of the Archdiocese of Athens and an Associate Professor of the Theological School of the University of Athens and Vasileios Kalliakmanis, Professor of the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
