Christmas event of the Sunday School
Wednesday, 14 December, 2016Our local Church will bring into effect a very interesting Christmas event on Sunday 18/12, at 4.00pm, at the Conference Center of Thessaly. The event will be split into three parts: The first contains the construction of four main teams, contained of the Sunday School children, for Christmas creativity actions. In the second, the members of the Sunday School shall enjoy 90minutes of creative activities. In the third, the child and youth chorus of our Metropolis shall perform a Christmas program of Byzantine hymns and traditional songs. ... -

Photo Exhibition for the support of free food services
Wednesday, 30 November, 2016The Cathedral of our Metropolis Saint Nikolaos organizes a photo exhibition in the Tsikriki building (Gamveta-Iasonos streets) by the photographer Argiris Zafeiridis. The exhibition shall begin on Thursday 1/12, at 8am, and it will last for a week. The income shall be given to the support of the free food services of the Cathedral Saint Nikolaos ("Dos imin simeron"). -
The Holy remains of St Nikiforos "Lepros" at the Cathedral of the Holy Diocese of Demetrias St Nikolaos
Wednesday, 30 November, 2016On Tuesday 29/11 the mortal remains of the Saint Nikiforos Lepros, from the Karies of Mountain Athos were welcomed in the Cathedral of Saint Nikolaos. The Metropolitan of Vrestheni Theoklitos took part in the celebrating welcome Vespels, in which he talked about his experience with the Saint Nikiforos. Fr Charilaos Papageorgiou also talked at the end of the Vespels, thanked for the blessing that our Cathedral and people shall receive by the holy remains. Seminar for the family violence
Monday, 28 November, 2016At 16-17/11/2016 the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias organized a twoday seminar for the best education of our clergymen. The seminar's subject was the family violence. The speakers were Antonis Karzis - psychiatrist, Afroditi Vronti - psychologist, Eva Gerasi - Childpsychiatrist, Apostolia Rapti - Social worker, Erasmia Kalafati - lawyer, fr Sevastianos Zervos - psychologist-Theologian. -
Love Support collection
Thursday, 24 November, 2016The Love Support collection began and will last until the Holy days of Christmas. Volunteer ladies will ask for everyone's support, by visiting as many of the Metropolis' homes. The aim is to supply with about 2000 food portions to people who cannot afford it, hospitalize 30 overaged people in the overaged home of Kanalia, support the Imprisoned Support Association "The Crossified", medicine supply through the Social Pharmacy, and many more. -

The event was blessed by the Metropolitan Ignatios. Friday, 18 November, 2016Feast equals to healthy, traditional food On Wednesday 16 November 2016, at the Conference Center of Thessaly, the famous cook from Mount Athos, fr Epifanios Milopotaminos took part at a very interesting event, at which many people attended with great enthusiasm. Many warm and meaningfull words from the Mount Athos were heard, images and experiences from the Virgin Mary's place were presented, but most of all tastes from this great cook were implemented, were all people had the chance to taste and enjoy. -
The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios with the Sunday School children
Monday, 14 November, 2016Our Metropolitan Ignatios accoplissed 18 years in the Diocese of Demetrias (14/11/1998). On Sunday 13/11 he took part at the Holy Liturgy in the Church of Christ's Assumption, where 150 children of the Sunday School attended. After the Holy Liturgy a breakfast was given hospice of the church. The children with their parents, the Sunday School responsible fr Christos Chachamidis and the Metropolitan had the opportunity to spend time together and talk. -
New great support from the Vatopedi Monastery
Monday, 7 November, 2016The Holy Monastery of Vatopedi, from the Holy Mountain Athos, sent help to our Metropolis for the Christmas gift packages that are going to help families being in great need. This help, of about 4000euro is going to support about 700 families. The Holy Metropolis of Demetrias thanks fr Efraim and the Vatopedi Monastery for the great support and cooperation that lasts for many years. -
New academic year for the Spiritual events of the Association "Three Hierarchs"
Thursday, 27 October, 2016On Sunday 30/10, at 7.00 pm, the spiritual events of the Association "The three Hierarchs", for the academic year 2016-17 (address: Dimitriados 180 -Ogl). The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios shall bless the new academic year and make a holy speech. The entrance is free to everyone. -

The Greek Nation honours the 28th October 1940 - Celebrating Event in Volos Spiritual Center
Tuesday, 25 October, 2016The Greek Nation celebrates the great Memory of "NO", on October 28th. Greece denied to compromise with the enemies forces during 1940. The celebrations contain the Holy Liturgy in the Cathedral of Volos Saint Nikolaos, in which our Metropolitan shall take part, and many representatives of the local authorities shall attend. After the liturgy, the Holy Doxology is programmed. Praying for our heroes who dedicated their lives will follow, at the Heroes Monument of the sea port of Volos and then the student March. Blessing of the new athletic year for the Athletic Association "Demetrias"
Thursday, 20 October, 2016The blessing of the new school - athletic year for the Athletic Association "Demetrias" took place on Tuesday 18/10, under the presence of the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios, in Aliveri. The Metropolitan wished good luck and every success to the members of the team for the local championship ans adviced the children to play together as a team with ethos. -
New clothes saving piece for the "Filira" inmates, by the "Crossified" Association
Friday, 14 October, 2016Under the guidance of the Association "The Crossified", the Social Help Station creates a new furniture for the saving of the clothes, for the inmates of the people who are hospitalised in "Filira" (guest's house of the Achillopouleio Hospital). Same furniture are also going to be made for churches, monasteries, institutions, social services, schools who would like to have a cooperation. Our local church kindly invites our brothers and sisters to give some of their time, in order to help in any way they can, to these supporting associations... -
Baptism of a seven-membered family
Monday, 3 October, 2016A seven-membered family from Albania got baptised in the church of Saint Konstantinos in Vrinaina. Father Vasileios Akrivopoulos baptised them, priest from the Cathedral of Volos Saint Nikolaos, who is from the same village. The family, who got catechised before the baptism, is well known to the village, kind people who work hard. The people from the whole village attended to the baptism. -
Our Metropolitan stands besides the gypsy children
Monday, 3 October, 2016On Saturday 1/10, our Metropolitan Ignatios met the team "Romalaioi", 17 gypsy children who want to continue their school studyings to highschool. The metropolitan spoke with the children and tried to burn up their effort for studying. It worth noticing that this team is supported by the Municipality of Volos, the University of Thessaly, and our Diocese. This children are supported for the breakfast and homework. -
Hagiography, Byzantine Painting and Religious Arts exhibition
Friday, 30 September, 2016On Sunday 2/10, at 7.00pm, in the Cultural Center of N. Ionia, it is programmed for a Hagiography, Byzantine Painting and Religious Arts exhibition to take place "Color and taste". This event belongs to the cooperational events of the Diocese Hagiography School and the "Magnets Arc" Cultural Association, with title "Magnets and tastes Culture". The exhibition will end on 15/10. Sunday School begins!
Wednesday, 28 September, 2016With great love and care the local Church starts on the weekend 1-2/10 the Sunday Schools at all parishes of the Diocese. The teachers and volunteers are all trained members of the Metropolis, who attend often to seminars and who have new supporting books, written by talented experienced teachers. Ordination of a new deacon in our Metropolis
Thursday, 22 September, 2016Our Metropolitan Ignatios shall take part and speak at the Holy Liturgy in the Cathedral of our Diocese St Nikolaos on Saturday 24/9. During the holy Liturgy he will bless the ordination to deacon of Mr Vasileios Kapellas, retired teacher, married, father of three children. On Sunday 25/9 the Metropolitan will take part and preach at the holy Liturgy in the church of Saint Vlasios on Pelion mountain.
