Tuesday, 1 April, 2014The 20th Chorus Feast of Religious Music will take part in the church of Christ's Assumption in Volos, on Saturday 5/4, 7.30p.m. In this feast the child chorus of the Holy Diocese of Demetrias, the mixed chorus of Tripoli, the mixed chorus of the municipal conservatory of Larisa and the Volos chorus will take part. -

Event for children with disabilities
Friday, 28 March, 2014A very interesting event, dedicated to children with disabilities occured in the Spiritual Center of the Holy Diocese, on Sunday 30/3, 11.30am. Responsible for the event was the Christian Fellowship from the church of Saint Trifonas of Volos. The speakers were: a) Mrs Foteini Grigoriou, president of the Special training lab of Volos, b) Mr Dimitrios Kalamatas, president of the Disability Association, with subject: "The small thing gives price to the big thing. Book presentation for the explanation of the Greek Revolution of 1821
Thursday, 20 March, 2014Living in seasons of our National History misrepresentation, with catastrophical results to the historical consiounsness of the Greek people, the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece implements a series of Conferences, in the remembrance of the completion of 200 years from the Greek Revolution of 1821. The proceedings of the initial Conferences of the years 2012 and 2013 are published with title: "Historiography and Sources for the explanation of 1821". Meeting of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches in Constantinople
Tuesday, 4 March, 2014In the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, is programmed the meeting of all the Primates of the Orthodox Churches. The meeting was convened by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomaios. The meeting will close on Sunday March 9th, with a Holy Liturgy in the Patriarchate church of Saint Georgios. During the Liturgy, a message to the Christians of all the world will be read. The Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Ieronimos will be accompanied by the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios and the Metropolitan of Messinia Chrisostomos. -

Wednesday, 26 February, 2014The two lectures and special seminar, sponsored by the Virginia H. Farah Foundation ( www.farahfoundation.org ), and organized by the Volos Academy for Theological Studies, were warmly received February 19-22 in Volos and Athens. Fr. John Behr, is the Dean of St. Vladimir's Seminary (Crestwood, NY), where he teaches Patristics, Dogmatics and Scriptural exegesis. Honour to chanter Manolis Chatzimarkos
Monday, 24 February, 2014During the weekend 22-23/2 events for the honour of a great chanter Manolis Chatzimarkos took place. The events were organized by the Chants Association of Volos "Ioannis Koukouselis". In cooperation with the Chants Arts Section of Musicology in Volos, a conference took place, presenting his life as chanter, teacher, musician. During the afternoon of 22/2 another event took place in the overcrowded Spiritual Center of the Diocese of Demetrias. New monk in our Diocese
Sunday, 16 February, 2014During 14-16/2 fr Georgios Giannios, 35 years old was added to our Diocese's Deacons, becoming also a Monk. In the spiritual events the Metropolitan Ignatios attended, blessing the new Deacon, and advising him in his warm speech. -
The nameday of our Metropolitan Ignatios
Tuesday, 28 January, 2014The nameday of our Metropolitan Ignatios will be celebrated in our Diocese on 28-29/1. During Tuesday 28/1, at 6.30p.m. the Holy Vespels will take place in the Cathedral church of Saint Nikolaos. The Metropolitan will give to fr Dimitrios Kapadoukas the gold cross as an honour for his many year dedication to church. During the same day 29/1, the Holy Liturgy will take place in the church of the Assumption of our Lord. -

Celebration for students and young workers
Tuesday, 31 December, 2013The usual New year celebration, dedicated to teenager students and young workers is going to take place on Saturday January 4th, at 8:00 p.m., in the Conference Center of Thessaly. The Metropolitan of our Diocese Ignatios is going to bless the youth. A dinner is programmed to finish the celebration. For the convenience of the transportations, a bus will depart at 7:30 p.m. from the Spiritual Center in Volos (K.Kartali - Anth.Gazi). -
Christmas in the Diocese of Demetrias
Thursday, 26 December, 2013Christmas was celebrated with great honour in our Diocese. The archimandrite Maximos Papaioannou preached during the Christmas eve vespels, in the Cathedral of the Diocese Saint Nikolaos . During the Christmas Liturgy the Metropolitan thanked all the people for their attendance to church during the Holy days and for the financial help they generally offer to whoever needs support. -

Sunday, 15 December, 2013On December 15th the celebrations for the feast of Saint Eleftherios took part in our Diocese. The Metropolitan of Velestino Damaskinos attended and preached at the Holy Vespels. The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios attended at the Holy Liturgy. "Teenagers: Disturbed Spring", the new "Archondariki" on December 15th
