Holy Liturgy for the children of the Sunday School
Saturday, 28 March, 2015On Saturday 28/3/2015 our Metropolitan Ignatios took part in a Holy Liturgy for the children of the Sunday School. The Holy Liturgy was implemented in the Assumption of Christ church, and was explained for the kids by the theologian Mr Sotirios Tsitsirigkas during the Holy Myster. When the Liturgy finished, the Metropolitan thanked everyone for this nice praying opportunity and for their participation. -
Great pilgrimaging arrival in our Cathedral St Nikolaos
Saturday, 28 March, 2015In the Cathedral of our Metropolis Saint Nikolaos, arrived on 28/3/2015 parts from our Lord's Holy Cross, the acanthine garland, the rope and the Sacred Grave, usually kept in the Monastery of St Archangels in Aigio. The abbot of the Monastery Kallinikos brought these Holy heirlooms to our Cathedral, with our Metropolitan beeing the person who welcomed them. We will be honoured to have them until Thursday 2/4/2015. -
Feast of the Virgin Mary's Annunciation
Wednesday, 25 March, 2015Our Metropolis celebrated with great joy the great feasts of the Annunciation of our Virgin Mary and the 1821 Greeks Revolution against the Turk's tyrrany. The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios took part in the celebrating Holy Liturgy of the Theotokos Annunciation overcrowded church in N.Ionia of Volos. -
Book presentation: "The life of the slave in the 1821 Turks occupation over Greece"
Sunday, 22 March, 2015Our local Church organised the presentation of the book "The life of the slave in the 1821 Turks occupation over Greece". The book contains the speeches of the 2nd International Conference of the cultural identity committee, during November 2013 in Athens. This conference was one of the three already occured, as part of the ten programmed Conferences until 2021, when 200years from our revolution will have been accomplished. The book presentation took place in our Spiritual Center on Saturday 21/3. -
The presentation of the funerary following in Volos
Tuesday, 17 March, 2015On Saturday March 14th, at 7.15pm in the Cathedral of our Diocese Saint Nikolaos the Chanting Association Saint Ioannis Koukouselis presented the funerary following. The chorus was organised by the head chanter Michalis Meletis. -
Byzantine chorus event in the church of Saint Anargiroi
Thursday, 5 March, 2015A byzantine chorus event was presented in the church of Saint Anargiroi in N.Ionia of Volos, on Saturday 7/3/2015, with the presense of our Metropolitan Ignatios. The event was presented by the Byzantine chorus and female chorus "Saint Apostoles of Volos Agria", with solist Ioannis Pourgianos and Vasiliki Gousi. Mr Athanasios Christodoulou, head chanter of the Saint Apostoles of Agria had the art caring. -
Blessings by fr Efraim of Vatopedi, Mt Athos
Thursday, 19 February, 2015Invited by the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios, fr Efraim from the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi, Mt Athos, came to our Diocede for three days. On Wednesday 18/2 he took part to the holy Liturgy in the Monastery of the Holy Archangels in Pelion, where he spoke and blessed the people. On Thursday 19/2 he took part to the Holy Liturgy of the Metropolis Cathedral St Nikolaos, where he spoke about the holy days that we are about to pass, preparing ourselves for the Holy Easter. Holy Liturgies for students by the Metropolitan Ignatios
Wednesday, 11 February, 2015The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios took part to Holy Liturgies on Tuesday and Wednesday 10/2 & 11/2 in the churchies of St Paraskevi and St Dimitrios, for the students of 6th High School and 1st Lyceium of Volos, in order to help the students learn the procedure followed in every Liturgy. The Liturgies were analysed to the students, after every important step. The students were given a holy Bible after the end of the Holy Liturgies. -
Constantinople, the city of memories...
Monday, 9 February, 2015A very important event was presented on Wednesday 11/2, in the spiritual center of the Holy Diocese of Demetrias, organised by the"Magniton kivotos" Culture Association. The subject of the event was: "History of the Sacred Theologian School of Chalki", directed by Eirini Sarioglou - Maria Leontari, music by Vasileios Dimitriou. Furthermore, the PhD of Eirini Sarioglou, professor of the University of Constantinople was presented, with subject: "The affect of Turkey politics on the Hellenic education in Constantinople 1923 -1974". -
Event for the young people of the Diocese
Sunday, 8 February, 2015A very interesting event took part on Saturday 7/2 in the Conference Center of the Holy Diocese for the young people, organised by Youth Syndesmos. The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios blessed the youth, chanted, blessed the New year's pie and attended the dinner The event was followed by a rich music program. -
New Peace Home - Feeding Center in Anakasia
Friday, 6 February, 2015The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios took part to the Holy Liturgy of the Saint Prodromos of Anakasia on Sunday 8/2. After the Holy Liturgy he blessed the opening of the 28th Parish Peace Home of the Metropolis. In there, people with financial problems shall be able to take some food and feel like home. -
Seven year without our Archbishop Christodoulos
Monday, 26 January, 2015On Wednesday 28/1, seven years will be accomplished since when our Archbishop of Athens and all Greece left the earthly life. However his memory has staid in all Greek people and Christians heart. Our local Church shall honour his memory on Wednesday 28/1 in the Metropolitan Church of Volos St Nikolaos, with the Holy Liturgy and memorial service prayers that the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios will take place. Our Holy Metropolis invites all of us to the Cathedral to unite our prayings for our Archbishop Christodoulos. -
Feast Event - chorus
Monday, 12 January, 2015The children chorus of the Holy Diocese athletic association presented a wonderful event on Thursday 15/1, at 6.00pm in the cultural center of N. Ionia. The chorus sang new year's chants, carols & songs under the guidance of Mr Evaggelos Mpadelas. The event is sponsored by the bohemian support center of Volos Municipality, the bohemian education program of the University of Thessaly and the 10th primary school of N. Ionia. -

Our Metropolitan Ignatios took place in the Holy Liturgy in the Cathdral of the Diocese St Nikolaos. After the Liturgy, the Holy cross diving praying service followed in Volos port. -
Great success of the musical - chanting event
Sunday, 21 December, 2014A great event of musical-chanting interest occured to the church of Holy Metamorphosis of the Savior in Volos, during the evening of Friday 19/12/2014. In cooperation with many cultural associations, the Music - Chanting section ofthe Academy of Theological Studies of the Holy Diocese took part to an ecclesiastical service that was left since the years of the Turks occupation over Greece. The service, named "Trithekti" was lead by the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios. -
