Friday, 15 November, 2013On Sunday November 17th 2013, at 07:00 in the morning, in the telecast that our Metropolitan presents at the National Television: "The Archontariki", is going to be shown again the episode with title: A Russian saint in a Greek monastery". Our Metropolitan Ignatios visited the mountain Sagmata of Thiva to discuss with the Archimandrite Nektarios Antonopoulos, who is the Head monk of this very beautiful monastery of Sagmata, dedicated to the Russian doctor Saint Loukas. -
The Holy Relic of Saint Rafail in Volos
Sunday, 10 November, 2013The relic of the Saint Rafail is in the church of the Assumption of Christ since 10/11. The holy relic was delivered under the guidance of the archimandrite Iakovos Karamouzis, Chancellor of the Metropolis of Mitilini. The holy relic is programmed to return to Mitilini on Sunday 17/11. -

Meeting of the Metropolitan of the Holy Diocese with the Association of parents and friends of people with autism
Friday, 25 October, 2013On Thursday 18 October, the Metropolitan of the Holy Diocese had a meeting with the Association of parents and friends of people with autism. The president of the Association Mrs Aikaterini Sarigianni thanked on behalf of the Association's members the Metropolitan for the free support of the church on law issues. The metropolitan blessed the members and guaranteed the full support of the Diocese to the acts of the Association. -

Educational lab for parents and new couples
Friday, 11 October, 2013The educational lab takes place in the church of the Ascension of our Lord, every Monday at 6.30 p.m. It is an effort to support the very important structure of family. Among the activities are lectures, conversations, movie views & discusion, and many more, in order to solve the problems that may come up to a family. Responsibles for the educational lab are: the Fr. Christos Chachamidis, the writer Stelios Pelasgos and the psychologist Ioanna Georgiadou. -

Orthodox conference for antiheresis in Bulgaria
Wednesday, 25 September, 2013On September 19-22th the 6th Meeting of the Diorthodox Religion studying took part in the holy Monastery of Saint George, in Nevrokopi of Bulgaria. The meeting was hosted by the Metropolitan of Nevrokopi Nathanail. In the meeting more than 100 participants attended, from almost all the Orthodox Churches. Our Diocese was represented by Fr Constantine Flakis and Fr Alexandros Gasits, who serve in Saint Paraskeyi of Volos city. Beginning of the Sunday School
Monday, 23 September, 2013On Saturday 28/9 is scheduled the beginning conference for the Sunday School. The meeting will take place in the Conference Center of the Diocese, in Melissiatika. The program of the meeting contains speeches of Fathers and teachers, in order to highlight important details for the Sunday School teachers and discussion among the divided groups of teachers. Celebration of the Saint Taxiarches Monastery in mountain Pelion
Wednesday, 4 September, 2013The feast of the "Chones miracle" of the Saint Archangel Michail is celebrated by the Holy Monastery of the Saint Taxiarches on Friday 6/9. According to the miracle, when pirates tried to drown the Holy Monastery of Saint Archangels in Mitilini island, by changing the route of a river, the Saint Archangel Michail created a deep moat around the monatery, accepting all the water and leaving the monastery untouched. Many miracles are recorded for the Saint Archangel Michail, making him a very beloved protector of people. -

Abbess Magdalene of the Birth of the TheotokosMonastery at AgiosVlasiosPilios passed away
Saturday, 3 August, 2013On Saturday August 3 rd Abbess Magdalene of the Birth of the Theotokos Monastery passed away. Her worldly name was Maria Tsourapa and she was born in Volos in 1936. She lost her eyesight from a grenade explosion when she was a child. At an early age she was tonsured a nun at the Monastery of Panagia Kato Xenia and in 1979 she became the Abbess of the Birth of the Theotokos Monastery at AgiosVlasiosPilios.
