A new deacon was ordained in our Local Church on Saturday, August 3 rd . It is Fr. Nicholas Koubaroulis, from PirgoIlias, married and a father of one child. His Eminence Metropolitan Demetrias and Almyros Ignatius ordained him at the Holy Church of the Annunciation in Piraeus Athens. His Eminence Prikonisou Joseph was also present. The spiritual father for Fr. Nicholas is the Abbot of the Monastery of Vatopedi, Archimandrite Efraim who was present and took part in the services as the first among the priests.

The new "Pliroforisi" (newspaper of the Metropolis) was released with a tribute to the Virgin Mary on Mount Athos. His Eminence Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatius wrote on "St. Nikodemus the Hagiorite: a living example for our times."

The Metropolis of Demetrias in collaboration with the Byzantine Music Association of Volos "IoannisKoukouzelis" held the third Byzantine Music Competition on Saturday July, 13 th . This year, the participants doubled and were from throughout Greece.
The new board of the Association thanked many people including His Eminence for His support and guidance, the Chancellor of the Metropolis for organizing the competition at Melisatika, the judges who were just i n their decisions, as well as all the participants.

The Metropolitan visited the camps of the Holy Diocese in the mountain St Lavrentios, on Sunday 30/6. Since Thursday 27/6, about 100 boys of the primary school are accommodated in the camp.
