128 underfed students in Magnesia highschools
Tuesday, 20 September, 2016The president of the Magnesia Highschool Education department Mr Sokratis Savelidis visited the Metropolitan Ignatios, in order to provide him the list with the students who cannot afford their breakfast. The Metropolis student feeding program starts on Monday 26/9 and revolves 128 highschool students. -
Ordination of Deacon in the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias
Thursday, 15 September, 2016On Saturday 17/9 our Church celebration the memory of Saint Sophia and her three daughters, Pisti, Elpida and Agapi. Our Metropolitan Ignatios shall take part in the celebrating holy Vespels on Friday, at the chapel of Women Martyrs, in the Volos parish of Saint Varvara. During the same day of the feast he will take part in the celebrating holy liturgy in Saints Apostoles of Agria, where it is programmed to perform the ordination of the new deacon Thomas Malliaros, married Theologian. -
Two new human supports by the "Crossified" and "Diakonia"
Monday, 12 September, 2016On Monday 12 September 2016 the "Crossified" Association of the Imprisoned and Association of social support "Diakonia" prepared two human support packages, in order to help our brothers and sisters who have surviving problems. More specifically the supports will be delivered to Larisa city imprisoned people and to refugees. -
Support to students who cannot afford their daily school breakfast
Wednesday, 7 September, 2016The Metropolitan of our Holy Diocese Ignatios has asked from the priests who are responsible in every school, to be informed by the school principals about the number of the students who cannot afford their breakfast, in order to program a daily support to these children. Furthermore, in the Diocese is gathered general student material in all parishes, where our little brothers and sisters can visit and get supplied by multiple school material which will be needed during the school year. -
Trip to Constantinople
Tuesday, 30 August, 2016A 4day trip to Constantinople is programmed on Friday 9/12/2016 - 12/9/2016. The trip is scheduled due to the ordination of the new Metropolitan Bartholomaios Samaras of Smirni, who comes from Lehonia of the mount Pelion. The ordination shall take place on Sunday 11/9/2016 in the Patriarchate church of Saint Georgios, by the Patriarch Bartholomaios. Celebrations of the Saint Kosmas Aitolos
Monday, 22 August, 2016On the 24th August our Church celebrates the feast of Saint Kosmas Aitolos. At the celebrations of the church of Saint Kosmas in Volos the Metropolitan of Velestino Damaskinos shall take part and speak during the Holy Vespels, and the Archimandrite Amfilochios Miltou during the Holy Liturgy of the same day. -
Reconstruction of the Panaghia Xenia Monastery - Celebrations of the 23rd August
Thursday, 18 August, 2016On the 23rd of August the Monastery of Panaghia Xenia in Almiros celebrates the feast of our Virgin Mary. At the celebrations, the Metropolitans of Vrestheni Theoklitos, of Velestino Damaskinos, of Demetrias Ignatios shall take part. But our local church is also at the very happy situation to know that at last all the efforts to reconstruct the old Monastery (built in the 19th century) that sufferred of the earthquakes of 1980 have come to a result. The works of the reconstructions have already began at this historical and miraculus monastery.... -
August prayings at the church of Saints Konstantinos and Eleni
Monday, 8 August, 2016A very interesting event, with great participation occured at the Volos city sea port, just outside of the church of Saints Konstantinos and Eleni, the "August prayings", in which the music orchestra "Ionia" and Mr Vasilis Agrokostas took part. This was one of the events that take place for the 3rd year and aim to enrich the August prayings. The village Kanalia has recently taken part to this circle of August prayings, with a rich program, in order the people to know more about our tradition, our treasure and great places. Celebrations of the Metamorphosis of the Saviour
Saturday, 6 August, 2016The feast of the Metamorphosis of the Saviour was celebrated with greatness in our Holy Diocese. At the Holy Vespels the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios took part, where he also made the holy speech. Many representatives of the local authorities also attended. During the same day of the feast, at the Holy Liturgy, the Metropolitans of Silivria Maximos and Ignatios of Demetrias took part. Friday, 5 August, 2016The memory of Saint Triantafillos from Zagora village honours our church on Monday 8/8. At the celebrations of the church of Saint Triantafillos in Zagora, the archimadrite Savastianos Zervos shall take part and make the holy speech, during the Holy Liturgy. At the Saint Triantafillos church in Pagases, the Archimadrite Ignatios Anagnostopoulos shall make the holy speech during the Holy Vespels. Friday, 29 July, 2016On 29th July, our church celebrates the feast of Saint Martyr Kallinikos. The monastery of Panaghia Chrysopigi also celebrated the nameday of the Metropolitan Kallinikos. The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios and Metropolitan Simeon of N. Smirni took place at the Holy Vespels of the 28th July. During the 29th July, the Metropoltian of Demetrias Ignatios and Serafim of Peiraeus took place at the Holy Liturgy. Celebrations of the Saint Panteleimon
Wednesday, 27 July, 2016On 26/7 the Metropolitan Ignatios took part at the celebrating holy Vespels of Saint Panteleimon church in the Volos Orphanage. During his speech he referred to the great effort that the people who work and volunteer in the orphanage give every day. He thanked them and highlighted how important is all of us to stand by the orphanage. The 4th camp period to the St Lawrence village has began
Sunday, 24 July, 2016The 4th camp period has began on Saturday 23/7, with the Lyceum boys. The Metropolitan Ignatios blessed the period, which will be accomplished on 28/7. Our Metropolitan spoke to the children, highlighted the importance of the camp to their lives, because they learn to live with other people. He also thanked the volunteers and cooperators for their support. Responsible for the 4th period is the Archimandrite Maximos Papaioannou. -
The 3rd camp session started
Friday, 15 July, 2016The 3rd camp session in the village of St Lawrence started on 14/7/2016, containing boys of highschool. The session will be accomplished on 23/7/2016. The Metropolitan blessed the camp and talked to the children, thanked the assistants and volunteers who continue to give their love to children so many years. Responsible for the specific camp session is the archimandrite Kallinikos Georgakopoulos and 15 experienced assistants. -
Reconstruction of the old Monastery of Panagia Xenia
Wednesday, 13 July, 2016The earthquake of 9/7/1980 left very deep damages to the old Monastery of Panaghia Xenia. The nuns had to build a new monastery on a hill near the old monastery, keeping there the monuments and icons of the old one. After so many years of efforts(36 years after the earthquake), today 13/7/20116 the Metropolitan blessed the beggining of the old monastery reconstruction, with the hope and vision that we will see again this great monument (sections of which stand from the 13th century) standing with glory and keeping again the great treasure of the... -
Events of Citizen Monement: "We use what we can produce"
Monday, 4 July, 2016The Volos city port got overcrowded by the events of the Citizen Monement: "We use what we can produce". The event started by music choruses and singers. 20 of the Movement business-members supplied of more than 3000 portions of different kinds of food, drinks and sweets to the people attended. The Metropolitan Ignatios visits the camps
Thursday, 30 June, 2016Our Metropolitan Ignatios visited the Diocese's camps on Thursday 30/6. Since Monday 27/6 the camps hospitalise more than 100 boys of Primary school. The Metropolitan ate lunch with children and followed the afternoon camp program. -
The prison schools give life, hope and knowledge to the imprisoned
Thursday, 30 June, 2016A very interesting event for the school year accomplishment occured in the Kassaveteia prisons. The prison schools give life, hope and knowledge to the imprisoned, stated fr Theodoros Mpatakas, president of the Imprisoned support Association, "Crossified", speaking after the event, and promising that the "Crossified" will always be besides the imprisoned. The program of the event contained a theater play by the students of Kassaveteia, a story declamation, a music concert play, the giving of high school diplomas to two of the prison school...
