Love offering by the Parish of German Bielefeld to our Metropolis
Tuesday, 9 February, 2016The Greek Orthodox Parish of Saint Apostolos in Bielefeld of the Holy Diocese of Germany, show its support and love to our local church by gathering and supplying foodstuff of 4.5tons. Our Metropolitan Ignatios thanked fr Dimitrios Tsompras who was the responsible for this mission. It is worth writing that children from the Sunday School but also German citizens volunteered in the gathering and the care of this difficult procedure. -
Event for the memory of the Hebrews martyrs
Thursday, 4 February, 2016The Holy Diocese of Demetrias organizes a memorial event for the Greek Hebrews that suffered and martyred during the burnt offering. The event shall take place in the Spiritual Center (Anth. Gazi - Kartali) on Sunday 7/2, at 11.00 am. The professor of criminology Mr Ioannis Panousis will speak with subject: "Living memories of the burnt offering". Friday, 29 January, 2016The Holy Diocese of Demetrias celebrated the name day of the Metropolitan Ignatios on 29th of January. On the evening of the 28th January the Holy Vespels took place in the Cathedral of the Diocese, Saint Nikolaos, on which attended the Metropolitan Ioustinos of Krini and Kalamaria, Theoklitos of Vrestheni, Damaskinos of Velestino, Georgios of Katerini and Platamona, Chrisostomos of Triki and Meteora, Dimitrios of Safita from the Patriarchate of Antiocheia. Thursday, 28 January, 2016The 8th year memorial for the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Christodoulos honoured the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios in the Cathedral of the Diocese Saint Nikolaos, after the Holy Liturgy. Great celebration of the Theophany in Volos
Wednesday, 6 January, 2016The Theophany was celebrated with great holiness in the Diocese of Demetrias. The Metropolitan Ignatios took part in the Holy Liturgy of the Cathedral Saint Nikolaos in Volos city. After the Holy Liturgy followed the Holy blessing of the waters. Afterwards, the Metropolitan and representatives of the local authorities, accompanied by the people to the city coast. The ceremony of the Cross throwing on the waters took place by the Metropolitan, who was on a boat. About 20 men jumped in order to catch the Holy Cross in the sea. -

Celebrating event for young people
Wednesday, 30 December, 2015The traditional New Year's youth event, will take place on Sunday 3/1/2016, at 8.00pm at the Conference Center of Thessaly. In the event all the yong people are invented, from 18 to 35 years old. The Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios shall bless the new year's pie, and attend the dinner and the other activities(music, chorus etc) that are programmed to follow the event. A bus shall leave from the Spiritual Center of Volos (Kartali-Anth.Gazi) at 7.00pm for the people that do not have transportation vehicle. -
Ordination of the Metropolis' archdeacon to archimandrite
Sunday, 27 December, 2015Our brothers and sisters of the Metropolis of Demetrias felt very emotive moments in the ordination of fr Kallinikos, the archdeacon of our Metropolitan Ignatios for the past 7 years. This top step in fr Kallinikos' life took place in the church of Christ's Assumption, Volos, on Sunday 27/12/2015. Very touching and tearful words were heard from fr Kallinikos' speech, but also from the Metropolitan Ignatios. The new archimandrite will serve in the church of Saints Konstantinos and Helen. -
The holy presents of the three wise men visit Holy Metropolis of Demetrias
Monday, 21 December, 2015A historical event for our Metropolis is the visit of the Holy presents that the three wise men brought to the baby Jesus. The Holy presents are usually kept to the Holy Monastery of Saint Paul in Mount Athos. Fr Ioasaf is the responsible keeper of the Holy presents for this trip to our Metropolis. The Holy Presents are going to remain to the church of the Virgin Mary in N.Ionia of Volos, until 28/12/2015, and many events, prayings and Liturgies are going to take place. ( Full program in Greek)
